    The diverse mountain biking region of Merano and environs boasts MTB tours at altitudes of between 300 and 3,000 metres. The leisurely routes lead from cabin to cabin. The Bike Highline Merano route connects the alpine pastures in Naturns and the Nörderberg mountain and wends its way through the Vinschgau Valley mountain landscape on a 25 km trail. The Texelgruppe Nature Park and the pristine Ulten Valley offer high alpine single trails. Expert cyclists can master challenging routes with professional bike guides.

    Cycling as a family through the South Tyrolean orchards or an athletic ride through Alpine passes – the Etschtal cycle path goes from Vinschgau to the spa town of Merano through the orchards in the Etschtal valley and ends in Verona. Cyclists can purchase the train and bicycle combined ticket to take the train to the Reschen Pass and then cycle back to Merano. Cyclists can use the low-cost bikemobil Card combined ticket to hire bicycles and access the bike shuttle as well as bus and rail connections.

    Cycle paths lead up to famous mountain passes such as the Timmelsjoch, the Jaufen Pass or the Gampen Pass. As the climate is mild, the racing season in South Tyrol runs until October. Cyclists can feast on Italian pasta and South Tyrolean Knödel (boiled dumplings) on sun terraces with stunning views along the way. The Ötzi Bike Academy in Naturns organises guided tours and racing events such as the STORCK Opening Week of Road Bike Racing.
